Bella's Happy Tail
BY BELLA'S DADDY, TOM
Growing up, my idea of a pet was a goldfish or turtle and in later on in college, a cockroach. Bitten by a dog during childhood, after running over his tail with my bike, I was never quite comfortable around dogs.
Then I met and married Julie, a special woman with a rare compassion for strays with a bad reputation. (that's probably why she married me!) She started a slow desensitization and educational process to the idea of owning, much less loving, a pit bull.
After a little coaxing, she introduced me to Bella, a labrador-pit bull mix with a neglected background. At first sight I knew this would be a good match with nothing to fear ( kinda like with Julie). It seemed Bella would ever only kill someone with kisses. Any fears of touching, playing, putting my hand in or near her mouth and even reprimanding this lovable and strong beauty have never arisen.
We now spend many happy and loving hours together as a family and foster home to other pit bulls awaiting adoption. Go figure!
I'm a true and devout convert to the importance and need for pit bull rescues and public education regarding the truth about dog aggression which has little to do with the breed.
